In memory of Simon Raymond

Updated: May 13, 2021

Art & Soul is saddened to hear the news of the passing of Simon Raymond, who died in December 2020. He had been a regular contributor to Art & Soul exhibitions over the years.

Simon was a highly skilled expressive artist, and explored abstract, figurative and landscapes in his painting. Sadly, Simon wasn’t able to take part in many Art & Soul workshops as he lived in supported placements in Eastbourne and Bognor Regis, and in hospital from 2011 – 2019. He was always happy to have his work exhibited even if he couldn’t attend workshops and he often sold his work too. He liked knowing that people were viewing and appreciating his work

and of course it was a big boost for him when a piece of work was sold.

Rachel Tranter, Co-Chair of Art & Soul recalls: 'Simon took part in one of the first Art & Soul exhibitions at the Landmark Centre in 1999 with a painting called ‘Abstract Landscape’. He will be fondly remembered by Art & Soul for his commitment to creativity and his lively and expressive artwork'.

Art & Soul is grateful for the support of Simon’s family and friends who have raised money for Art & Soul in memory of Simon. These funds will to help support our exhibitions and creative workshops for all with mental health conditions.
